SyncPenguin's connector for Microsoft 365 GAL contacts
Sync your Microsoft 365 GAL contacts two-way or one-way with other apps and services
How does it work?
What can Microsoft 365 GAL contacts be synced with?
Popular real-world use cases
- Sync users and contacts between the GALs of two Microsoft 365 tenants, so employees of partner companies, subsidiaries or merged organizations can find each other.
- Bring employees from Google Workspace into the Microsoft 365 GAL during a merger or migration, so both organizations appear in one shared address book.
- Copy the Exchange On-Premises GAL into Microsoft 365 as mail contacts during a hybrid setup or migration, keeping everyone reachable.
Key features
Complete Directory
Sync members, guest users, organizational contacts and groups. Choose exactly which contact types to include.
Cross-Tenant Sync
Share address lists between separate Microsoft 365 tenants. Colleagues from partner or merged companies appear in each other's GAL.
Create Mail Contacts
Add contacts from CRMs, other apps or other tenants to your GAL as mail contacts, and keep them updated or removed automatically.
Smart Filtering
Sync only the people you need. Filter by department, office location, group membership, user type, account status and more.
Change Tracking
Only new, updated and removed directory entries are processed, so your synced contacts stay current with minimal effort.
Affordable & Scalable
With SyncPenguin you only pay for changes to your data, regardless of how many contacts you initially have, or will have in the future.
Supported fields
Things to note
- Users and groups are managed in Microsoft 365 and synced from the GAL only. Contacts synced into the GAL are created and updated as mail contacts, which keeps your user accounts safe from accidental changes.
- Each GAL contact holds one primary email address and one work address, which matches how Microsoft 365 stores directory contacts.
- Groups are synced as single entries with their name, email and description. Their members are not expanded into individual contacts.
- Group memberships, office location, user type, account status and profile photos are available for syncing from the GAL only.
- Custom fields are not supported. All standard directory fields are available for mapping.
- Country names written to the GAL must match the country names recognized by Microsoft 365. Unrecognized values are skipped, and all other address details are still saved.
- Newly created mail contacts can take a few seconds to receive all their details, because Microsoft 365 needs time to register the new contact.
- Connecting requires a Microsoft 365 administrator, and creating or editing GAL contacts requires appropriate Exchange admin permissions.
- Loading profile photos is optional and can make syncing slower in large directories.
