SyncPenguin's connector for Microsoft 365 contacts
Sync your Microsoft 365 contacts two-way or one-way with other apps and services
How does it work?
What can Microsoft 365 contacts be synced with?
Popular real-world use cases
- Keep a shared team contact folder identical across all members of a department, so any update by one person reaches everyone.
- After a merger, sync Google Workspace directory users into Microsoft 365 Contacts so both organizations can easily reach each other.
Key features
Organization-Wide Sync
Admins can connect the whole Microsoft 365 tenant once and set up contact syncing for every licensed user in a chosen group. Individual users don't need to connect their own accounts.
Folders & Categories
Sync a specific contact folder, or enter a folder name and SyncPenguin creates it for you. You can also limit syncing to contacts with a chosen category.
Shared Mailboxes
Sync contacts from a shared or delegated mailbox you have access to. This makes it easy to maintain team or department address books.
Contact Photos
Optionally sync contact profile pictures along with names, emails, and phone numbers.
Smart Change Tracking
Only new, updated, and deleted contacts are picked up on each sync, which keeps syncing fast and reliable. Long notes are synced in full, without truncation.
Affordable & Scalable
With SyncPenguin you only pay for changes to your data, regardless of how many contacts you initially have, or will have in the future.
Supported fields
Things to note
- Microsoft 365 stores up to 3 email addresses per contact, so only the first 3 are synced into Microsoft 365. Email type labels (e.g. home or work) are not kept.
- Phone numbers follow Microsoft 365's structure: 1 mobile, up to 2 home, and up to 2 business numbers per contact. Other phone types, such as fax, are not synced.
- Each contact can have 1 home, 1 work, and 1 other address, which matches the address slots in Outlook.
- Custom fields are not supported. All standard Microsoft 365 contact fields are available.
- Each sync flow works with one contact folder. Contacts in other folders or subfolders can be synced by adding separate sync flows.
- Photo syncing is an optional setting. Turning it on can make syncing of very large contact lists a bit slower.
- Categories and photos may not be mapped automatically. If you want to sync them, add them in the field mapping.
- When syncing is limited to a category, deleting a contact on the other side removes only the category from the Microsoft 365 contact. The contact itself is not deleted, which protects contacts used elsewhere.
- With organization-wide setup, only enabled users who have a mailbox and a Microsoft 365 license in the selected group are available for syncing.
